Blog Post #11 The New Blogger Experience

As someone who has never even kept a diary before I did enjoy writing the blog. I have to say that I was very happy and did my blog every week at first, but as the time went on some of the topics were hard to write about or could not think of a blog to create. The only thing I would like to see different would be to do more self-generated posts and possibly stricter deadlines. I did take the blogging serious until the last four weeks, but it did not want to do it I just lost interest in them and my deadlines showed I did not have to do them every week. This semester I learned that not only classmates, but people all around the world search and read blogs. I was having fun seeing all the different countries who liked revisiting my blogs and reading my updates. Blogging used in the classroom as an assignment can be useful and valuable to the professor. It is a useful tool to show a professor, what someone knows and how they are improving as a writer. It is also valuable to the writer to get feedback and good comments for someone’s peers. I think blogging is very sophisticated and that everyone should at least one time in their life try blogging on either a specific subject or on everyday problems. Thank you for reading and have a great summer.

Blog Post #10 The New Generation of Professionals

Recently, I have been visiting more and more employment services, and seeing all of the potential candidates for future careers really scares me. Even though, I have a job, looking at the job fields relating to health care and hospitality. I am realizing that the professional careers are slowing fading to school children with a ten month degree to change diapers and administer medication. Some people do not even realize that to be in this profession they cannot have any sort of background trouble with any sort of drug. To watch these children get turned away for smoking marijuana or should I say getting caught smoking. They can no longer have a professional career as medical personnel. This is a very delicate subject especially now that the laws are being adjusted to the generations and the states. I, for one, can honestly say I have smoked marijuana and I do not see the harm in any one who has been caught as long as they do random drugs tests or can pass the initial drug test. I would gladly put my faith in the hands of someone who has turned their life around after being given a second chance. Please if any of you reading do hiring I know policies now are tough, but think about a second chance everyone has been given them at one time or another. I believe the generations to come will have tougher struggles, but remember they are the generations we today have created.

Blog Post #9 The New Pink Yumminess

Recently I had the unbearable pleasure of watching a video about “Pink Slime.” If you do not know what Pink Slime is made of or from then here is a brief description. It is the leftovers after all the desirable cuts of meat from cows have been trimmed and sliced. Now that doesn’t seem so bad right? Wrong, that is just to get what the main ingredient in pink slime is. The other main ingredient is ammonium hydroxide, but it is worse than it sounds when digested is harmful and deadly. I feel that everyone in America should know all about this pink slime and exactly what products contain it. Even though, some microbiologists say when treated correctly is not harmful to anyone, but again the treatment is with dangerous chemicals and extreme high heat. I believe that most American’s have eaten a good amount of this pink slime in their lives, so why should we start caring so much now? I care so much more now that my own children are starting school and I would prefer that my children didn’t have some of the same health problems that my generation has. In perspective, children are in school eight hours a day and what is fed to them is by the school. I do hope that everyone will watch the video and comment on why or why not pink slime is good. Please be safe and start eating right not for just yourself, but everyone that loves you.

Blog Post #8 The New Video Game Era

I do believe everyone by now has seen the brand new systems that have been released: PlayStation 4 and Xbox 1. I believe that if you have not seen the new video game systems you should look into playing one, or buying one if not for you then that special someone in your life. I myself have sampled both systems and have seen a considerable difference between the two, but I always leave out the third system because I believe it is for small children. If one wants to learn or play fun kid adventures I would definitely recommend the Wii. The two definite differences really between both of the other two systems are third party game rights and the internet options. First, third party gaming rights is a delicate and different subject most critics will not approach. The reason is that writing about have Halo on PlayStation to get better graphics, but then the backlash of all the Xbox fans boys will make the magazine or blog destroyed. Third party gaming rights in my near expert opinion should not exist and every game should be available for every system. Secondly, internet options have gotten severely out of control. First of these options, having to pay for a subscription to a service after buying the system and paying for internet now you have to pay for the service connection too, what is wrong with that right? Secondly, the companies are moving everything from games in person to downloads and less physical property, but are that really a bad idea? Yes, I like to be able to hold my games and what if you lose the download or even the password to your account then what is someone supposed to do? In conclusion, I believe that both of the gaming systems are fun and evenly matched, but I would go with the cheaper option which is PlayStation 4.

Blog Entry #7 The New Way to Food Inc.

To be truly honest I have always thought about where my food has come from, but I have never wanted to know how it was made that way. I believe that ever process a food goes through should be semi-humane until i watched the movie Food Inc. Now that I have seen living conditions and even the inside of a slaughterhouse now I do not like the fact that animals are treated so inhumane and that we add so many chemicals to animal foods to grow them three times the normal size. The way food is supposed to taste and smell is really natural and the taste should make someone want more. I am reacting to seeing the animals abused compared to the chemicals that are used. The processed that is used to create most of our foods is amazingly gross and stupendiously wrong. I believe that animals should be slaughtered humanely and sparingly. The government should be ashamed of themselves for not being more involved, but not in the way they were portrayed being involved. The government should have more restrictions on this agribusiness and be able to do more inspections and have the right to shut down a factory if they are breaking major rules that are endangering lives. The relationship that is between the government and some of these businesses does not surprise me one bit. I understand that the lobbiest that are in Washington D.C. are their to make sure a business or niche of businesses arent shut down. I do know now that corn is used in so many more products that it makes me wonder, why we dont try and incorporate corn in a regular diet and see how it affects a persons digestion system? Food should not be as processed as people have come to known, but it does not have bad properties as long as eaten in proportion to someones diet. The word Engineered does not belong to the word food in any way, shape, or form. I believe if someone is going to be engineering food it should be to make enough so people are not starving in the world. When i saw the part of the movie that talked about bacteria it made me really cautious of everything i am feeding my own children. I have considerably changed my childrens eating habits to more vegatable and fruits, but i still feed them some beef and chicken. As Americans we should care about all the ways food could be processed, and the fact that people are dying because of the way animals are treated and processed just to feed us. I believe everyone will switch to more organic foods if they made the book "Skinny Bitch" into a movie. Please buy local and help change the way animals and workers are treated in these factory farms.

Blog Entry #6 The New Amendment

Lately i have been watching the news and reading different blogs and articles about our rights as American citizens. I do have many opinions, and my rights are certainly on the top of the list of what should not be taken away from me. The second Amendment is being attacked and "We" as American people are being told that "We" should be like the rest of the world and not be able to conceal weapons. I as a Veteran feel I have the right to protect my family and myself; as long as one can pass the appropriate background checks and safety courses. Everyone that is on the opposing side trying to take away these rights should think about who they are taking them away from. Most of the law abiding and lawful citizens are the ones that are being affected not the ones that are going out and killing people or robbing convience stores and banks. The news is so biased the stories that are told are all the bad. What about the Robbery Thwarted? If you read this or even look for the video these are people who know what to do and how to use weapons for good not evil. I do not like politicians who have never served in any public emergency position to tell me what i should or should not do! I really hope everyone knows that just because a law is passed does not mean that police are going to be able to gather all the weapons. The bad people who are using them for the wrong reasons are not going to give up that easily. If anyone would like to talk more I am always willing to., Thank you for reading my blog and have a great day.

Blog Entry #5 The New Future

Video  My reaction to the video is a very wide variety of feelings and emotions. I feel that our society as a whole have already gotten to this point with the rascals and scooters everywhere. I am not saying they are bad, but when you see people who can or should be walking not it makes me sad and disappointed that people would take an easy way out. What resonates the most with me is the need to yell at people not just because they let themselves get to that point, but because they use it as a disability and take away from the people who really need the help. I believe that obesity should not be a disability, for everyone has the ability to stay in shape it is their choice to not do so. I am a big guy and I do not let my weight hold me back I am doing something about it and trying to control it. This film shows how are society may end up if we do not make the necessary changes. As for the technology, it was way to over loaded with learning, even from a young age, about advertising and big corporations taking over how people eat, think, drink, and feel. I understand there are some medical diagnosis that would cause this action; however, most people do not have those medical reasons and need to get up and walk start with a walker if you need to. I believe we as a society can stop this from happening and i am one who is willing to motivate anyone and everyone i can. Also, i realize that people already rely on digital everything i hope it does not get as bad as not moving your arms and pushing buttons. I do not even believe in using blue tooth for the fact that people are getting away from not having to move around and actually do something, anything even a hand movement.

Blog Entry #4 The New Look on Law

Police Deaths I am a huge supporter of the law enforcement and would hate if we no longer had any law or Marshall law. I have been watching the news more lately and it really upsets me. In the last three weeks, there has been three different occasions of officers hurt in shootings. I believe in a lot of different things, but death penalty is one that i believe is not harsh enough on the people that deserve it and then too harsh on the people that do not deserve it. I want to talk about multiple subjects including police shootings, but that is just an understatement compared to any crime against children. I believe as any crime against children should be treated as a major crime not just a misdemeanor or a ticket. I understand that children do need discipline but there is a time and place for everything. The worse part is that it is not discipline when you do anything of sexual nature to a child. This is when i believe we need to bring back the eye-for-an-eye law and let either the parents of the children hurt do the punishment to give them some sort of redemption for the hurt they have suffered. The reason our judicial system fails is because they are  more worried about smaller crimes like drug related then the major crimes or even unsolved crimes against children and sex predators. I know my words might not fit with what people think, but that's why it is an opinion, my opinion, that needs to be heard if not by the people that need to then by the people that want to know people are in this world looking for justice for children especially. I hope to one day be an advocate to women and children rights. Please stop the violence and go to work and earn everything you need don't lie, cheat, steal, or anything else to break the law. Thank you for reading my blog and have a great week.

Blog Entry #3 The New Technology Life

This is the video I choose and for multiple reasons. I like the way the video is trying to show that not all technology in the classroom is a bad idea. It shows that as more children are learning to use technology, and at younger ages they want to have fun while learning at the same time. I myself believe that technology is a great thing when used properly. Younger children in my family use a very popular website called http://www.abcmouse.com/, if these young children start out younger to learn then possibly we would have a more successful high school graduation rate. As a college student, technology is one of the fastest and easiest ways to not only communicate with my teachers, but classmates, colleagues, and even family. I do hate that people over abuse the technology culture and make it into a system of cheating and plagiarism. The computer networks that are in classrooms now should be updated so that technology can be used, but also shut down in times of tests, quizzes, and even cell phone reception. The classroom is a time for learning and growing as a human being not to “troll” social networking sites to like and poke everyone. I can say I have been a rude student in a class before and found out it does not just interrupt my learning, but also the learning of everyone around me. I also looked up http://youtu.be/Ki2Z4NhlCWg, this video shows you why books are being phased out, but in my opinion life is moving too quickly and the written text is the history in the physical form. I believe books teach us how to be patient and how the world has changed. The different types of books and magazines show that we are a diverse world. Some people still like to pick up an actual book and flip the pages, instead of just rubbing your finger across a screen. I hope that one day people will realize that technology can fail, even in the greatness; one push of a button can erase and change multiple subject matters. I do believe that the world is changing and in the good way. Everyone one from infant to geriatric, is going to have to learn how to use and be proficient in computers very soon. Lastly, every parent should be monitoring children’s activity and maybe we wouldn’t be in the situation that our education system is in now. That is a discussion for another time stay tuned. In conclusion, technology has made the human race feel superior and knowledgeable, but without books we would have never made it to the technology age. The learning in the classroom needs to be monitored more and frowned upon because of privacy.  Thank you for reading and it is a pleasure to write for you.

Blog Entry #2 The New Prospect on Life

The life that has been laid out for us as homo-sapiens. I feel that the society we live in should be more of an eye for an eye society. The criminals and thieves that are caught and prosecuted to have life or near life in jail is a ludicrous idea. As I see it, if you do something wrong you should have to get the same done to you or something equally horrible. The reason for my topic this week is I watched on the news and heard another school shooting has happened. I looked up all the school shootings in the last forty years and every state has had at least one school shooting and about 90% were either former or current students trying to get back at the teachers or professors for bad grades. As I see it, no one should ever be mad at a teacher or professor for bad grades, for it is the students fault for getting the bad grades. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States I can not believe that we give our inmates more luxuries then we give our elderly. All of the ones that were caught are sentenced to jail there are very few that were sentenced to death, which proves the point that our justice system is becoming to lenient on criminals that kill then on white collar crimes who did not physically hurt or kill anyone. I am just wondering how long until Americans can feel safe and go outside of our comfort zones like the rest of the world? In the Hofstede model it shows that Americans are les likely to change their ways as it is now and they are also more scared of the uncertainty in the future. In society, we all want to say what I am about to, the killers should be killed by the families, the rapist should be castrated, and the thieves should be sent back into the world with everything gone. I think that we as a society should step up and say we are tired of being scared; even though, we have the strongest military our home front is more unsafe then 75% of the world.
In conclusion, I was military and that has never influenced my view I have thought this way since I was a child watching the columbine shooting on television, or watching a CEO get away with stealing millions or billions or dollars while working class get the brunt end of the stick. I would like some true justice and I do understand that money does make the U.S. work it does not help the lower class it just makes it harder. As always I do apologize if anyone was offended, but I am not sorry for what I have written. I do believe in honesty and as I read and hear all of these horrible situations going on in the world it makes me just want to become a vigilante, but in that case I would then become the bad guy so win or lose, wait it is all lose situation until someone looks closer at our "Liberties." Thank you for reading my blog

Blog Entry #1 The New World

So in my search for how to write or even navigate blogs I searched the web and came up with some different understandings of blogs. I have come to not like the personal type of blogs unless I really know the person or the people that are being talked about in the blog in some way shape or form. The blogs that I did like and recognize with the most are the business or commercial blogs about celebrities, or the ones that had some inside to a trade or hobby that I love. In the blog, The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs I read the different posts of how he feels about different subjects and also that he was influenced on more then one occasion to change or omit his blog to satisfy his readers. http://www.fakesteve.net/ . The link provided brings you to the blog but the last entry which is a poem dedicated to Steve Jobs and his life inspired my to want to improve life and make the world a better, more perfect place. In the poem, it was even said that "Your name, old friend, is the definition of hope. Not literally, I mean, not if you look up “hope” in the dictionary, but you know what I’m trying to say." this to me means that we as a society has lost someone who showed most of us the light that is imaginative and to create beyond what we already know. Steve Jobs will be miss.

On the other hand, TMZ blog really made me realize that I hate people who chase and follow hard working people just because they are famous. Do not get me wrong not saying I did not like the blog just saying that stalking even for paparazzi should be illegal. I do like seeing my favorite stars doing interviews, but to catch them outside of their house or leaving a shop is a little overkill in every sense.  http://www.tmz.com/ In the sense that I do not like them I also love them. The standards in America for what makes for news is becoming more of an entertainment then for actually getting people what is really going on. You can not turn on a T.V. without seeing death in every other "news" story. T.V. has ruined life and I think everyone needs to turn it off and go outside for even an hour a day even if it is just for a walk.

Lastly, I would like to talk about these so called "Bloggies." Why is there an award ceremony for something that is for people to read? This is the exact problem with media always trying to make money or give awards for something that should be harmless and fun. If my blog goes viral meaning over a million hits I DO NOT want any recognition I just want to let people know what I am thinking and how things affect us as humans. I will keep my language age appropriate, but I will also tell the truth about anything and everything I see, hear, and read. If anyone has any stories they would like reviewed I will gladly accept anything and give a review and my opinion and honesty about it. In conclusion, I want people to know anything I say and do in my blog I will also do and say in person, no I am not picking any fights or challenging anyone this is just who I am and I appreciate everyone who has read or will read my blog thank you and have a wonderful week.

The New Start

Hi, my name is A.j. Nickerson. I am a twenty-five about to turn twenty-six single father of two wonderful little children. My son who is four turning five years old in June, and who is starting school next year, And my daughter who just turned three. I do have the ability to make just about anyone laugh, and I am pretty forgetful. I am a generous man who would give the shirt off my own back instead of seeing people hurt. Lastly, I am clumsy and agile at the same time. The reason I choose both of these pictures is because it shows who my kids are and the personalities they portray. I am starting the rest of my life with completing my masters’ degree in medical science. I love all outdoor activities including but not limited to: camping, hunting, sports, and hiking. Football is my absolute favorite activity of all. My hobbies are very limited mostly to gaming either console or computer I really do not care. One of my goals before I leave Glendale Community College is to play football for the Gauchos. I would also like to help lower incoming class man either as an intern or shadow. My main goal in life is to be a doctor, who helps everyone in anyway possible, and save a couple lives along the way. I want my children and I's future to be financially stable, and last but not least, I want to maybe one day find that someone who my children and I can make a home with. I'm not the oldest in the class, but I do have a hard learned life of experiences and maybe somewhere in this blog we will all figure out who we are and I will figure out who I am. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1798671613
