Blog Entry #3 The New Technology Life

This is the video I choose and for multiple reasons. I like the way the video is trying to show that not all technology in the classroom is a bad idea. It shows that as more children are learning to use technology, and at younger ages they want to have fun while learning at the same time. I myself believe that technology is a great thing when used properly. Younger children in my family use a very popular website called http://www.abcmouse.com/, if these young children start out younger to learn then possibly we would have a more successful high school graduation rate. As a college student, technology is one of the fastest and easiest ways to not only communicate with my teachers, but classmates, colleagues, and even family. I do hate that people over abuse the technology culture and make it into a system of cheating and plagiarism. The computer networks that are in classrooms now should be updated so that technology can be used, but also shut down in times of tests, quizzes, and even cell phone reception. The classroom is a time for learning and growing as a human being not to “troll” social networking sites to like and poke everyone. I can say I have been a rude student in a class before and found out it does not just interrupt my learning, but also the learning of everyone around me. I also looked up http://youtu.be/Ki2Z4NhlCWg, this video shows you why books are being phased out, but in my opinion life is moving too quickly and the written text is the history in the physical form. I believe books teach us how to be patient and how the world has changed. The different types of books and magazines show that we are a diverse world. Some people still like to pick up an actual book and flip the pages, instead of just rubbing your finger across a screen. I hope that one day people will realize that technology can fail, even in the greatness; one push of a button can erase and change multiple subject matters. I do believe that the world is changing and in the good way. Everyone one from infant to geriatric, is going to have to learn how to use and be proficient in computers very soon. Lastly, every parent should be monitoring children’s activity and maybe we wouldn’t be in the situation that our education system is in now. That is a discussion for another time stay tuned. In conclusion, technology has made the human race feel superior and knowledgeable, but without books we would have never made it to the technology age. The learning in the classroom needs to be monitored more and frowned upon because of privacy.  Thank you for reading and it is a pleasure to write for you.

  1. While I love reading my Kindle, I don't like that books are being phased out. I hate that a lot of authors are going straight to ebook formatting, amd books that are out of print can't be found in ebook format. With so many options, it's hard to keep a standard. Which stinks for my kids because have of the books they like, they require technology to access, and I'm not a fan of my little ones having access without me right there. It puts limits on their reading.

I did want to say thanks for the ABC mouse link. Pretty cool sight.

  3. Interesting topic. Break this into chunks to help organize it both by content and visually to make it more accessible for the reader.
